Qatar & Qatar-Dubai Currency – Group of Banknotes (1972–2003 Issues)
A fine selection of banknotes from Qatar and the earlier joint issues of Qatar & Dubai, comprising both circulating issues and early series notes. Included are:
Qatar, Central Bank issues (2003): One Riyal x3, Five Riyals x3, and Ten Riyals x3, all dated 2003, obverse featuring the national emblem with dhow, palm trees, and crossed swords, reverses with stylised wildlife and traditional motifs.
Qatar, later issues: Multiple examples of the redesigned One, Five, and Ten Riyals, each featuring native fauna (birds, camels, dhow) with Arabic and English inscriptions.
Qatar & Dubai Currency Board (1972): One Riyal (green) x2, Five Riyals (purple), and Ten Riyals (grey/black), the early joint issue series with dhow, palm, and oil derricks to obverse, Arabic legends, and typical geometric security patterns.
Serial numbers vary across the group, with some well-preserved examples showing crisp detail and colour. Where applicable, Pick references include P7–P9 (Qatar & Dubai 1972 issues) and P16–P18 (Qatar Central Bank issues, 2003 series).
This attractive group spans the transitional period from the joint Qatar & Dubai authority into the modern issues of the Qatar Central Bank, offering collectors both historic and modern notes with excellent visual appeal.
